Why I use film in Weddings
One of my favorite wedding packages that I offer has the option of adding film photography. I have a variety of cameras and film sizes and types my clients can choose from. Either 35mm, 120, 110, or different kinds of polaroids. Color, vivid color, black and white, even slide film. No matter which option they choose, or a little of everything, I have so much fun shooting that I cannot even explain it. Of course, the final scanned image is digital and the print is hand made in a lab.
I have been shooting film since junior high school. I used to take my dad's Nikon cameras and just shoot and practice composition and developing black and white film. I enjoyed it very much and still do. There is a tag on Instagram you can look up to see the cameras in my growing collection #aliciakiddcameracollection
So, why do I use film? Really, why? It's expensive. It's a hassle. It's obsolete. You can say many things about the film process and the analog cameras I use. But one thing is for sure, it's damn beautiful. Sure, I can replicate the look in photoshop and other professional photo editing software. Sure, I can only shoot digital and keep it safe. But where is the fun in that?
So, here are a few images to show you what I mean. Notice the textures, the format, and magic. I'm sure you'll fall in love!
